Road Trip

I went on my first road trip with Dusty this past weekend. It was quite a fun one and went by way too fast.
We left dark and early at 2:20am Saturday morning and made it to San Diego before 9am. We had to stop by the Mens Warehouse to pick up Dustys Tux and I must say he looks quite handsome in one. Then the non stop weekend began.
After picking up the tux we had some time to kill before we checked into the hotel. We decided to go to Old Town and wander around a bit. We ended up having lunch at a Mexican restaurant called La Pinata. Wow, that place was uber delicious. I had something called a Fajitadilla. It was soooo good, and Dusty of course had Chile Verde which was quite yummy as well.
Our next stop was the Hotel where the rest of the wedding party was staying. The Homewood Suites, (Hilton) that place was very nice, if only we had the money to stay there with everyone else. The guys played some basketball, i got a bit of a sunburn it was a good afternoon. then it was finally time for check-in at our hotel. We were there literally 8 minutes before the scheduled check-in time and they said our room wasnt quite ready....liars. Ten minutes later we were finally able to go up to our room to get ready for a cocktail/appetizer shindig at a downtown bar.
The place was really cool, it was a basement establishment and the door blended into the wall very well so it was tricky to find... there is a camera in front of the door so you can watch all the confused people. it was kinda an open bar, a cousin of the bride paid for most of the bar tab, which was quite nice. At 6pm the bridal party had to leave to head to the church for the rehearsal. we ended up squishing 14 people into a 10 seater van. it was quite funny to see dusty all crouched down in the trunk space. :)
The rehearsal went pretty quickly, even though there were a few mis communications and a crying bride(I blame it on the alcohol). Next stop was the rehearsal Dinner at another mexican restaurant, Casa De Guadalajara. Free beer and margaritas, yum. They had a buffet style dinner with chicken and beef fajitas and rice and beans. At this point i was getting quite tired and I cried a little bit because of it. Lame I know but such is life. After the dinner we when back to the Homewood Suites and partied a bit more. Well, i just sat there, but Dusty enjoyed a few more drinks with his friends. After all the excitement from the day I was very ready to go to sleep when we finally made it back to our hotel.
The next day(Sunday) was the wedding day. I had to get ready early because Dusty had head back over to the Homewood Suites to get ready for the wedding with the other groomsmen. Then I drove the guys over to the wedding chapel and got to sit around for an hour for the actual wedding to start. At least I wasn't alone, there was another girlfriend who came early too. Her name is Ashley. We kinda stuck together thru the wedding and after for the pictures to drive the guys back. The wedding itself was nice and short. But picture taking took about 2 hours almost.
And right after that it was time to head to the reception.
The reception was on the naval base right there by the water. It was very nice. Once again there was an open bar for up to $2500 and while it lasted a keg and free wine. I ended up only having a couple glasses of wine because I had a horrible headache. There was dancing, boozing, eating, cake cutting. It was a great reception. We finally got kick out about 10:30/11 ish and once again headed back to the Homewoods suites for more partying. I think we got back to our hotel about 12:30ish and finaly had some time to ourselves. not that i minded sharing Dusty with everyone, its just nice to have him to myself once and a while.
Monday morning we had to pack up, take the tuxes back(we ended up taking almost everyones back) and drive over to Steve and Wendy's house to visit them while we were in town. Their house is looking pretty good. They have a new TV and couch. Jared was a bit grumpy from waking up from his nap. We had a small lunch with them and then headed to Dustys Friend's house. and hung out there til it was time to drive back. We left about 7:45pm and got back to my place at 2:40 am. And crashed til it was time to wake up the next day.
It was a whirlwind weekend but tons of fun. Cant wait for the next adventure. Next time I'll take more pictures
